    The City of Edmonton is negotiating with Leduc County to annex two parcels totalling 15,600 hectares south of the city, including the international airport. Mayor Stephen Mandel made the announcement Tuesday after city council voted 11-1 in favour. Coun. Linda Sloan was opposed and Coun. Karen Leibovici absent.

    On Tuesday, December 11, city council passed the 2013 Operating Budget with a 3.3 per cent property tax increase, the lowest since 2002. The budget of $1.95 billion will allocate 2.33 per cent of the tax increase for civic services and agencies and one per cent to continue to fund the Neighbourhood Renewal Program for reconstruction and maintenance of roads, sidewalks and streetlights in mature neighbourhoods.
